Is it safe for me?
Pregnancy Pilates, answered

For most people with a healthy, low-risk pregnancy, yes! Pilates is one of the most recommended forms of movement during pregnancy. It builds the deep core and pelvic floor strength that supports your changing body, eases common aches, and helps you prepare for birth. Every Wild Prenatal class is designed to be pregnancy-safe, with modifications offered throughout. Always clear movement with your midwife or LMC first, especially if your pregnancy is high-risk.

Any week. That’s the whole idea of Wild Prenatal. Select the week you’re in and you’ll drop straight into the right plan, whether that’s Week 6 or Week 36.

Generally yes! Gentle, low-impact Pilates is considered safe in the first trimester for most healthy pregnancies. Early on, many people feel tired or nauseous, so this is a lovely time to focus on breathing, gentle mobility and connecting to your core rather than pushing hard. Listen to your body and energy levels, and check in with your LMC if you have any concerns.

Yes! There’s a safe plan for every week, right through to 40. We include modification from about week 16 we adapt away from lying flat on your back for long periods and focus on stability, strength and comfort as your bump grows. The good news all classes are modified already so you just follow along! By 30 weeks and beyond, the emphasis shifts to mobility, pelvic floor and birth prep, with plenty of gentle options for lower-energy days. You simply follow the week you’re in, and the classes meet you there. As always, clear it with your LMC.

This is exactly what Pilates does best. Our prenatal classes teach you to connect to your deep core and pelvic floor, learning to both engage and release these muscles. That awareness supports your growing bump, helps with everyday comfort, can assist during birth, and gives you a strong foundation for postnatal recovery.

Some degree of abdominal separation is normal and expected in pregnancy. Our classes avoid the movements that can make it worse, like big crunches or anything that domes the belly. We focus instead on deep core work that supports the abdominal wall. In postnatal, we rebuild gently and progressively.

Just a mat or a towel. Some classes use a small Pilates ball, light weights or a resistance band for variety, but there’s always an option without. Everything is designed to be done at home. If I could suggest one piece of equipment it would be the Pilates ball. Amazing for deep core connection.

Yes! always. Our classes are carefully designed to be pregnancy-safe, but every pregnancy is different and you know your body best. Have a quick chat with your midwife or LMC before starting, particularly if your pregnancy is high-risk or you have any complications.

Had your baby? Start Postnatal Pilates

Our postnatal classes are ready for you right now. Gentle, targeted classes to reconnect and rebuild after birth, at your own pace, once you have been cleared by your GP, midwife or LMC.

Wild Postnatal Programme is ready when you are. Six weeks of guided recovery, plus the full postnatal class library, the moment you join.

Mums across Aotearoa

“As a mother of four it’s challenging to fit in studio sessions, but with the online platform, I had access to quality prenatal workouts right here in my lounge. It helped incredibly with my postpartum healing too.”

I filmed this through my own pregnancy

Meet Laura

“When I was pregnant, I wanted to keep moving to stay strong and prepare for postpartum recovery. So I filmed the classes I wished I’d had, week by week. I know every week can feel completely different so the classes are designed to support the stage you are in and your energy available. My advice is to move on the days you feel good and rest when you don’t. I feel so lucky to have experienced pregnancy in my own body and now I can help so many other mums move safely and stay strong ”
